To the Himalayas

Alfred Williams

I may not walk above your heavenly heights,
Nor unto those ethereal realms attain
Where dwells Eternity, with all her train
Of suns, and moons, and stars, and satellites,
But since the universal Soul invites,
And Beauty beckons, from Earth's numbing pain
Invisible I soar, where, without strain,
Spirit with spirit, soul with soul unites;
Then thrills my essence with a joy divine,
Musing with Time and Silence, while the Fates
Croon their old prophecy of coming years;
For I am one with you, and ye are mine,
And my immortal spirit penetrates
Beyond the unimaginable spheres.
