Poems by James Whitcomb Riley (1849 - 1916)

James Whitcomb Riley was born in Greenfield Indiana. He spent the first 21 years of his life there and the last 23 years of his life living in Lockerbie Street, Indianapolis. He is buried on Strawberry Hill, overlooking Indianapolis from the highest point in the city. James Whitcomb Riley is known as the 'Hoosier Poet' (people from Indiana are known as "Hoosiers" - familiar to many from the Indiana University sports teams - also known as "The Hoosiers".
