Poems by Thomas Gold Appleton (1812 - 1884)

Appleton was born in Boston, Massachusetts.He graduated from Harvard College in 1831 and in October 1838 was admitted to the bar in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Appleton and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow became good friends during a trip to Europe in the 1830s. He spent much of his life traveling. As he wrote, "More and more the world needs, and learns to value, its vacation".
