Poems by Bessie Rayner Parkes (1829 - 1925)

Bessie Rayner Parkes was born in Birmingham. She was a campaigner for women's rights and set up the English Woman's Journal, while working as a respected poet and essayist. She counted many leading artistic and literary figures amongst her friends and she was the mother of Hilaire Belloc. She lived for many years, and died in Arundel in West Sussex.
