I Live in a Palindrome

Lindy Warrell

— Gle-n-elG —
it's the same
whatever way you spell it,
white middle Australia
don't you know
the older kind
where tourists visit
to see us in our
natural environment
far from red dirt
kangaroos
and gum trees.
Our promenade
is ornamented
with pines and palms,
we eat meat pies
and go to the footy.

And we think they are
colourful.

It is indeed a palindrome
