The Treasures of São Bento

R. Lincoln Harris

A place for catching a train
Is usually not so striking
But Porto, Portugal has one
With visuals to your liking.

Its colorful tiles from floor to ceiling
Really are quite stunning
And if you’ve not been there before
The art you won’t be shunning.

Azulejo  tiles are there
A sight in white and blue
Your cellphone camera will come out
To create a memory, or two.

You’ll feel as though you’ve entered in
A museum of great renown
Even if your only goal
Is travel to another town.

The next train station that you find
Seems lifeless in comparison
But you’ll recall São Bento’s charm
Train station and museum? There is one.
