Jewelled boxes stacked to the sky,
rows of diamonds blinking on,
ornament the city that first enthralled
through adventures on the Lower East Side
with the All-of-a-Kind Family
and when young Arnold Jackson of Harlem
stepped into Park Avenue fairytale.
Dusty purples mute streaks
of peach-coral and popsicle pink
—colours of a Carrie Bradshaw dress,
perfect for dating Manhattan—
fade to gray to black
over waves churning in the ferry wake.
Light remains

Arnold Jackson was the lead character in the TV series Diffrent Strokes about two kids from Harlem who are taken into a wealthy lifestyle on Park Avenue.
Carrie Bradshaw was the main character in the famous "Sex and The City" books and TV series set in Manhattan.
