At a beach on the Jersey Shore,
an orange butterfly threads a path,
south to north, among the colorful umbrellas,
south to north among the reds and yellows,
south to north among the purples and blues,
south to north among more reds and more yellows,
no doubt believing them the biggest flowers it has ever seen,
a butterfly heaven, then oh, (in a butterfly heart beat), a butterfly hell.
Poetry Atlas has many poems mapping New Jersey.
