Thomas Once Was

Roger W. Hancock

Thomas a town of long ago,
if a town as small as was.
An area, a small community,
when then within the country.
It had a school, Thomas School
and one restaurant, Beer’s Lunch.
Beer’s doubled as a gas station,
and an auto-garage.
Dairy farms milked the North,
Berry fields picked to south.
County addresses later changed,
into either of Auburn or Kent.
Auburn Outdoor Theater  began,
to wane the name of Thomas.
Falling in Valley’s berry, dairy lands,
betwixt towns of Auburn and Kent;
succumbing to the growth of each,
was a community once called Thomas.

Author's Note: A poem about Thomas; that once laid in the valley between Auburn and Kent in Washington State.
