(Synagogue Place, Adelaide)
I. The Apple*
The Psalmist lifts his voice on high
keep me as the apple of thine eye.
Rich baritone, the Cantor sings
hide me under the shadow of thy wings.
II. Kol Nidre tears
The shofar sounds and to the people calls
Young Gideon runs from gallery to stalls
from mum to dad. His haste his mum appals.
On bottom step he trips and headlong sprawls.
* Author's Note: The Apple is the night club which now occupies the former synagogue building.
