Mount Auburn - Pompeii

'T is sad to pass Pompeii's gate,
And tread its solemn "street of tombs";
To trace the wheel-worn pave, and courts
Where the neglected wild flower blooms; —
An awful lesson here is read,
In this wide city of the dead.
