Poems by Eugene Field (1850 - 1895)

Eugene Field was an American journalist, author, poet and writer of children's books. He was born in St Louis Missouri, but moved to Massachusetts aged 6. He dropped out of college and made a career as a journalist in St Louis, where he became editor of the St Joseph Gazette. He moved to Chicago where he worked again as a journalist as his poetry and stories for children became more famous. He died Chicago. His childhood house in St Louis is preserved as a museum.
