Poems by John Hunter-Duvar (1821 - 1899)

John Hunter-Duvar was born in Fife, Scotland and moved with his family to Canada in 1857. He arrived at Halifax where he was to live for a while in the 1860s. Most of his life he spent on Prince Edward Island. He had a large estate, a sawmill for a time, and was a very successful Inspector of Fisheries as well as Lieutenant-Colonel in the Halifax Artillery. He also worked as a journalist and a successful author. His home is now the Hernewood - Mill River golf course.
