Poems by Francis Turner Palgrave (1824 - 1897)

He was born at Great Yarmouth in Norfolk and educated at Charterhouse. He won a scholarship to Balliol College Oxford. He was a friend of the great poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson. Although he wrote his own poetry, Francis Palgrave was probably more respected as a critic and is most famous for his anthology, The Golden Treasury.
