Poems by Austin Dobson (1840 - 1921)

Henry Austin Dobson was an English poet. He was born at Plymouth 1840. When he was about eight, the family moved to Holyhead. He was later educated at Coventry, and the Gymnase, Strasbourg. Dobson became in 1856 a civil servant at the British Board of Trade, he remained until his retirement in 1901. Dobson started to publish poetry in St Paul's magazine in 1864, and in the 1870s he played an important part in the revival of intricate medieval French verse form, the triolet.
