Poems by John Denham (1615 - 1668)
John Denham was born in Ireland, son of a leading administrator there. He studied at Trinity Oxford and then as a lawyer at Lincoln's Inn. He was in the royalist camp in the English Civil War and only returned to favour after the Restoration when he became Surveyor of the King's Works. He was a Member of Parliament, Fellow of the Royal Society and a Knight of the Bath.
