Poems by Emily Pauline Johnson (1861 - 1913)

Emily Pauline Johnson born on an Indian reservation in Ontario. Her father was a Mohawk chief, her mother an Englishwoman. She was a writer and performer who had a very successful stage career. In 1909 she moved to Vancouver after retiring from the stage and concentrated on writing. Her "Legends of Vancouver" is a classic of Vancouver's literary past. Her funeral was the largest ever seen in Vancouver at the time.
