Poems by Sappho (c. 630 BC - c. 570 BC)

Greek poetess who lived on the island of Lesbos and whose work has survived in fragments. Some of her work does include love lyrics about women, leading to the derivation of the word Lesbian from Lesbos. Another term for female homosexuality, sapphic, is also derived from Sappho.
